STRUM - Marie Larson, 91, of Altoona, formerly of Strum, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Country Terrace in Altoona.
Marie was born February 6, 1922, in St. Paul, Minn. Marie was adopted by Anna Edith and Martin Wold.
Marie graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1941. After graduation she moved to Chicago where she worked in a stationery store and later cleaned houses. She then moved to Eau Claire where she worked at Presto Industries. There she met her husband, Earl. They raised five children and a stepson.
While living in rural Independence, Marie worked at Adeline's restaurant in Eleva. After moving to Strum, Marie began cleaning houses. A few years later, Marie worked in the kitchen and snack area for WWTC in Eau Claire until retirement in 1987.
Marie was active in her church, served as president of the Ladies Aid, member of the choir and served on many committees.
Survivors include three children, Roxie (Ray) Severson of Independence, Charles (Deb Bowman) of Mesa, Ariz., and Jeff (Kathy Lawrence) Larson of Zumbro Falls, Minn.; six grandsons; three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Larry and Steven; stepson, Roger, and her former husband, Earl.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church, rural Strum, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
