Esther Bluhm, 87, Walla Walla resident and former longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away on Wednesday at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

Inurnment services will proceed at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Esther was born on April 1, 1919 in Wheeler, daughter of the late Henry and Lena (Gies) Geist. She was raised and educated in Ritzville, graduating from Ritzville High School in 1938. She was married to Ernest Bluhm on October 14, 1940 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and the first 10 years of their married life they farmed in the Moses Lake area. Esther was a teacher's aide in the Moses Lake School District for 11 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Bluhm, Walla Walla; one daughter, Jan Heming, Traverse, Mich.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Elaine Bluhm, Walla Walla; four grandchildren: Aaron Heming, Cedar, Mich., Teresa Mooney, Bakersfield, Calif., Erik Bluhm, Fort Collins, Colo. and Sarah Bluhm, Renton; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Hamburg, Moses Lake.

Besides her parents, Henry and Lena Geist, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Telecky and Marie Soltis.

Because Esther is a two time cancer survivor the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, c/o Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy, Ste. 250, Dallas, Tex. 75244.
