David B. Lesh, 76, of Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Warrensburg, Mo., surrounded by family.

David was the ninth child born to Floyd and Flora Lesh on February 21, 1937, in Independence, Mo., where he lived most of his life. David graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1955. He served in the United States Navy for a total of two active and four inactive years. His duties as an Engine Man, 3rd Class, included piloting the Captain's boat to shore and working in the ship engine room.

He married Judith Lee Blaco in 1958 and had three children. He served on the Independence Plumbing Board and he owned and operated Lesh Plumbing from 1960 to 2004. He was an elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Eden Heights Congregation. David enjoyed auto mechanics, spending time with friends and family, and traveling. He traveled to all 50 states, many more than once. He also visited England, Italy, France, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, the Suez Canal, Honduras, Belize and Canada. He thoroughly enjoyed a North Sea Cruise while serving in the Navy.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Flora Lesh; three older brothers, Leonard, Wilbur and Raymond Lesh; a sister, Florence Hallet; and his daughter, Mary Ann Lesh.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of 55 years of the home, along with a daughter, Deborah Krause and husband, Kent, granddaughter, Mary Gonzalez and husband, Victor, and grandson, Samuel Krause. He is also survived by a son, Geary Lesh and wife, Gina, and three grandsons, Gage and Mason Lesh, Michael Riddle, and granddaughter, Sara Pernice and husband, Mike.

David will be dearly missed by his wife and lifetime companion, Judy, along with his children, grandchildren, extended family and multitude of friends.

A memorial service will be held to honor his life at the Eden Heights Church in Independence, Mo., on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in David's name to the Missouri Veteran's Home, 1300 Veterans Drive, Warrensburg, MO 64093 or online at www.valwbg.org, where he spent his final days being cared for by excellent and caring staff.
