Mr. David Gerald Lee, 66, died Tuesday night (January 22, 2014) at his residence in Blackshear after an extended illness. He was a native of and lived most of his life in Waycross.
He retired from CSX Railroad as an engineer and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is the son of the late Chester Lankford Lee, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Sheree Smith Lee of Blackshear; three children, David Lee (fiancé Robin) of Valdosta, Jenny Lee of Valdosta, and Brett Lee (wife Hollee) of Blackshear; one granddaughter, Bethany Ann Lee; his mother, Louise Carter Lee of Blackshear; two brothers, Chester Lankford Lee, Jr. (wife Marilyn) of Loganville, and Mike Lee of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Janet Watkins (husband Bill) of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday (January 24, 2014) at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
