STOCKDALE - Jake "J.W." Rice, age 86, of Stockdale, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. He was born on October 15, 1927 in Sutherland Springs, Texas to Jake and Lorene (Gorman) Rice. He worked for Schumberger Oil Services from 1951 to 1970 in Victoria, TX.
His parents, brothers, Lloyd Raymond Rice and Charles Gorman Rice precede him in death.
J.W. is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Rice; children, Ernie Rice (Sharon), Garry Rice, Sharron Wesley (Ted), and Debbie Rice; grandchildren, Ricky Wesley (Katie), Crystal Kidd (Rob), Joslin Lee (Ricky), Jake R. Rice (Rain), Austin Rice (Cortney), and Jacqueline "Jeep" Rice; great-grandchildren, Nate, Tyler, and Dylan Kidd, Christopher, Jake, and Matt Ferguson, Ayden Lee, and Patrick Morales; sister, Lois (Jay E.) Baker; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale, with Brother Terry Smith officiating. Interment following at Sutherland Springs Cemetery.
