Hovie Corbin, a resident of Owensburg, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, in Dunn Memorial Hospital at Bedford.
Born April 20, 1888 in Jackson Township, he was the son of John B. and Hannah (LAMB) CORBIN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Therza {(PORTER) CORBIN, in 1932{1962}. He was a retired school teacher, after 40 years in that field. The last living charter member of the Owensburg Masonic Lodge Number 700, he was also a member of the Owensburg Methodist Church.
Surviving are the children, Mrs. Lucille VANBUREN, of Detroit, Michigan; Chester CORBIN of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Joe, Hovie Jr., and Mrs. Warren WEAVER, all of Indianapolis, Cecil CORBIN, of Bedford and Mrs. Thomas CAUDELL, of Owensburg; brothers, Frank of Linton, Luther of Doans, Raymond CORBIN of Dugger; two sisters, Mrs. Della HALL, of Bloomington and Mrs. Iva WOLLAM, of Anderson; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Owensburg Baptist Church, the Rev. Merla CRAIG, officiating. Burial was in Owensburg Cemetery. The Owensburg Masonic Lodge was in charge of graveside rites.
