Son of Ralph W. and Maxine Pugh and brother of Patricia Dean. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He had a teaching career in Idaho, Eastern Washington, and for 24 years at Oak Harbor Middle School. He also coached football, basketball and baseball and was a basketball referee. He was a charter boat skipper out of Westport, Washington for 16 years.
