A native of Wilmington, Del., the daughter of the late Samuel Eugene and Odile Schaefer Lawrence, she died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Grace Rehabilitation Home in Clinton after a brief illness. She was 80 and a resident of Baton Rouge for 68 years. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Jack Stubbs, Natchez, Miss.; a brother and sister-in-law, Samuel Eugene Lawrence Jr. and Lillian Bollin Lawrence, Columbia, S.C.; a niece, Lucy Lawrence Marriott, Atlanta; and five nephews, Samuel E. Lawrence III, Tega Cay, S.C., John Lawrence, Mount Pleasant, S.C., Olin L. Stubbs, Clinton, Samuel E. Stubbs, Houston, and Kenneth W. Stubbs, Natchez. She was a 1941 graduate of LSU and taught school briefly. She worked for four years as a secretary and assistant bookkeeper at a local bookstore and then for nine years as a research statistician at the Department of Commerce and Industry in the State Capitol. Following that, she worked for 21 years as a research statistician at the Division of Research in the LSU College of Business Administration, from which she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from noon until funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
