Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Lyman) Nelson; four children, Anita Nelson, Rhonda (Gary) Bauer, Marc (Michelle) Nelson, and Trina Ingram; six grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Dunlap, Chelsea Peckham, Madison Nelson, Tyler Ingram, Lauren Ingram, and Mason Nelson; two brothers, Jim Nelson, and Tom (Cindy) Nelson; brother-in-law, Ken Bergguist; several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jackie Bergguist.
Mr. Nelson graduated from Bangor High School in 1956. He served his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Michigan State University where he was a member of the Kellogg Farm Study Program.
Jerry owned and operated the Mayes Orchard later know as Nelson Apple Core, where he employed numerous young teenagers in the surrounding communities and taught them a good work ethic.
He had a passion for traveling with his family, golf, and sports. Jerry never knew a stranger. He was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life was held at the North Parma United Methodist Church on Friday January 24, with Reverend Melissa Claxton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Parma United Methodist Church Parma, Michigan.
