The deceased was for in Sangamon County in 1840 hence was in his 68th year at the time of his death. He came to Taylorville when eight years of age.
For nearly forty years Mr Westbrooks was employed in the Shumway family. Several years ago when he became incapacitated for work D.D. Shumway placed him on a pension of one dollar a day which he drew until his death.
The widow of the deceased passed away twenty-none years ago. Surviving are three children: Mrs Fathergail; Mrs Lucy McManus and Mrs Eliza Winn, all of Taylorville. also a sister, Mrs Nance Decker of Raymond, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral services will take place at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Christian Church, Rev Shuler of Owaneco officiating. Interment will be made at Oak Hill cemetery.
