Nettie is survived by one son, Richard B. Chewning and wife, Carol of Rustburg; two grandsons, Michael Christopher Chewning of Appomattox and Travis Morgan Chewning and wife, Kelsey of MO; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Nettie was predeceased by one grandson, Jayden Ethan-Carter Chewning; and two brothers, Thomas Edgar Smith, Jr. and Joseph Richard Smith.
Nettie was retired from RST Marketing and was of the Baptist faith.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Private services will be held at a later date.
