Elenora Josephine Bell is the daughter of Samuel Green Bell and Frances B. Montgomery. She grew up on a farm in the Luray/Poplar Springs area of Henderson County, TN. Her father died when she was about 5 years old.

She married Monroe Jackson Fowler in 1881. The couple remained living in Henderson County, eventually farming in the Poplar Springs area.

Children born to this couple: Ethel V., James W. Elmer F., Joseph W., DeWitt and Charlie.

The Lexington Progress, March 21, 1941

Mrs. Elenora Josephine (Bell) Fowler, 80 years of age, died on March 12th, 1941, in the Poplar Springs community. She was born in the community in which she died on February 14, 1861. Her parents were pioneer settlers in that community. She was married to M. J. Fowler in 1881. Besides her husband, Mrs. Fowler leaves five sons, the Rev. J. W. Fowler of Memphis; Jim, Elmer and Charlie Fowler of the Poplar Springs community; and DeWitt, of Medina; one daughter, Mrs. A. W. Holmes of Poplar Springs, and one sister, Mrs. Reuben Buck, of White Fern. Rev. E. M. Trammell conducted the funeral services at the Poplar Springs Methodist Church with interment in Independence Cemetery.
