Composer. Born in Poland, he started his career at RKO studios in the 1930s, then moved to Universal, where his first assignment was scoring "The Pearl of Death"(1944). He composed music soundtracks for hundreds of films to include "Black Scorpion", "The Story of Mankind", "The Big Circus", "The Lost World", "Five Weeks in a Balloon" and "The Fly". In 1951, he scored the Oscar-winning documentary "The Sea Around Us" and later moved to television where he wrote the well-known title theme for the series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". He died on August 1, 1971.
