Katherine J. Dunn, 102, of Marcus, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Katherine has given the gift of anatomical body donation.
A memorial service for Katherine will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus.
Katherine Johanna Dunn was born on July18, 1911, in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Jutting) Johnson. She attended county school, finished 8th grade, and then worked on the farm.
On Nov 26, 1928, Katherine and Frank McQueen were united in marriage in Cherokee, Iowa. They lived in various towns before moving to Remsen and later to Marcus.
Katherine left Marcus and worked as a waitress at several towns and eventually moved to Omaha, NE., then married Delmar Dunn, but after a short marriage, thereafter worked and lived in Omaha until, in 2010, moved to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Katherine was a loving mother and grandmother with an infectious smile and an amazing positive attitude. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, sewing and word puzzles.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Kenneth (Carole) McQueen, Omaha, NE; Rose Marie, Marcus, grandchildren Beverly (Gary) Harms, Juanita (Steven) Ahrendsen, Merrill, James (Katherine) Delaney, Council Bluffs; Scott McQueen, Ft. Dodge; Todd (Barbara) McQueen, Omaha; 14 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Frank and Delmar; daughter, Ruth Ann Mefferd and husband Wyman; son-in-law, Max Delaney; grandson, Ronald Delaney; sisters, Elsie (Joe) Scarpino and Erma (William) Wilcox; brothers, George (Anna), Herman (Kathryn), Alt (Clara), Johannas (Babe), Harm (Emma), Theodore (Dorothy), and Bernard.
