VETERAN EMPLOYEE DEAD.
William F. Argubright, the veteran employee in the service of the Metropolitan Street Railway Company, died of pneumonia at his home, 2413 Holmes street, yesterday morning. He had been sick but five days.
Five days ago Mr. Argubright contracted a severe cold while standing at his accustomed place at Eighth and Walnut streets, where he was employed as flagman, which developed into pneumonia. Mr. Argubright was 52 years of age and had been a resident of Kansas City for twenty-four years.
For twenty-two years Mr. Argubright had been in the employ of the Metropolitan. During his first years here, he drove one of the mule cars, of which the Metropolitan rolling stock then consisted. Later when the cable cars took the place of the "mules," Mr. Argubright was given a job as flagman, being located at the Junction for years, when that was the main point along the Metropolitan's lines. For several years past he has been located at Eighth and Walnut streets, where he was a familiar figure to the ever passing crowd.
His cries of warning have been heard by thousands of Kansas Cityans.
"Look out there. Step lively. Look out for that car," and similar remarks have been hurled at a too anxious person as they just barely escaped being run over by either a cable or an electric car.
Mr. Argubright leaves a widow and three sons [sic].
