Louise Hanchey Jordan, 93, of Burgaw passed away peacefully Monday, January 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her beloved family. She was born February 11, 1920 in Wilmington, one of ten children of Nathan Frank and Equilla Sears Hanchey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Harry Eugene Jordan; granddaughter, Pamela Meadows Ramsey; son-in-law, Lewis R. Meadows; eight brothers and one sister. Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, a nephew and niece who were like her own children; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; and many extended family and friends. For 75 years Louise was a faithful member of Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church where she loved and praised the Lord. Louise was a true Southern lady who lived her life with dedication to her faith, her family, her friends and her church. She counted her children along with their expanded families her richest blessing in life. Louise was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit filled her home with love, good cooking (especially her biscuits) and welcomed all who entered. She always had a smile on her face, a helping hand stretched out, and a heart to show the love of Christ within her. What an honor it is that the caring, loving Louise lived among us for 93 years. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church with The Rev. Bill Applewhite and The Rev. William Hill Pearsall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial gifts may be given to Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church, 4670 Stag Park Rd., Burgaw NC 28425. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Lower Cape Fear Hospice staff, especially Jill and Joyce; caregivers, Brandy, Sally and Edie; and the nursing staff of Pender Memorial Hospital for their loving care and support.
