Mrs. Betty Kinsey McLain, 63, of West Point died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at West Point Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Gerald Ledbetter and Tony Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point.

Mrs. McLain is survived by three daughters, Susan Patrice McLain (Phillip) McWhorter of Pensacola, Fla., Lisa Kathleen (Michael) Johnson of Danielsville, Ga., and Leslie Ann McLain of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Cote (Shannon) Turner of Orlando, Fla.; two granddaughters, Madison Turner and Macie Turner, both of Orlando; two sisters, Glenda Carillo of Gene Autry, Okla., and Mary Allison of Lone Grove, Okla.; and two brothers, Jimmy Kinsey of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Billy Barksdale of Gene Autry.

Born Jan. 5, 1942 in Stewart, Okla., Mrs. McLain was the daughter of the late Lois Edwards Barksdale and the late Otto Barksdale. She, along with her late husband, Patrick O. "Pat" McLain Jr., were the owners and operators of Sundae Ann's Restaurant in Lanett from 1979 until his death in 1993. Mrs. McLain continued to operate the restaurant until 1994. She was the valedictorian of Berwyn High School in Gene Autry and was the star of the basketball team. Mrs. McLain and her husband owned and operated two other restaurants before moving to West Point. After selling her restaurant, she worked for Belk's in LaGrange for 10 years. She was known for her sense of humor and generous spirit. Mrs. McLain was a member of West Point Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 2 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice LaGrange, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, Ga., 30240 in Mrs. McLain's memory.

LANETT, Ala. -- Services for Betty Kinsey McLain will be conducted at West Point Presbyterian Church, Lanett, Ala., with the Rev. Tony Dean officiating.
Betty went to be with her Lord and savior on Feb. 28, 2005. She was born on Jan. 5, 1942, to Lois and Otto Barksdale.

She was reared in Gene Autry, Okla., where she was valedictorian of her graduating class. She participated and excelled in basketball during her high school years. She was briefly employed at First National Bank.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Patrick McLain, on June 5, 1993. She and her husband owned and operated a restaurant, Sunday Ann's, in Lanett from 1976 to 1994.

She was a devoted wife and mother, putting her family's needs above her own. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include a son, Cody Turner and wife, Shannon; daughters, Leslie McLain and Marnie Carliff, Lisa McLain and Michael Johnson and Susan McLain; sisters, Glenda Carrillo and Mary Allison; brothers, Jim Kinsey and Bill Barksdale.
