Alice was a Russian born in Niuzhuang, China, where her father was working as a Bank of Russia official. After his work was finished there, the family returned to Russia where they remained until the Revolution of 1917, when the family was forced to flee the country. Brothers Leo and Alexi, with their father, escaped to Finland, while Alice fled with her mother to Canada. Several years later Alice and her mother moved to England and reunited with father and brothers there. Alice then moved to France where she met and married French artist and horticulturalist, Maurice Delavier.

The couple had no children.

Alice lived in Paris until her death. She died in her home at 19 Quai Saint Michel. She is buried with her husband in Soisy, France.

Gravesite Details

The tomb was designed to appear as though the stone lid was broken asunder. An iron cross is rising from it.
