Born in NW Kansas, on a farm the family homesteaded 40 years before, "Doc Vic" attended Washburn University in Topeka prior to WWII. He was already a pilot when recruted as a civilan instructor and stationed in Jackson, MS. After joining the Army Air Corp, he flew the Burma Hump in the Air Transport Command. Ih was an active pilot until his late 70's. After the war, he graduated Kearney St. Teachers College, NE with majors in Chemistry and Math. He then received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, Lincoln. Father of six.
