OBITUARY
In Memory of Our Dear Grandma

Died, at her home ten miles north of London, March 15, 1888, after an illness of about four months, of heart disease, Mrs. M. E. Patton, nee Bible.

She was born January 20, 1812, in Green(sic) County, Tennessee; was married to William C. Patton, dec*, January 1, 1833.

She joined the "old school" Presbyterian Church at Salem, Washington County, Tennessee, in 1839, and moved to this county October 17, 1858.

She bore her long suffering with patience, and had no faith in any earthly power, whatever. She would never consent to have a physician, but with full assurance of a living faith bore her sufferings without a murmur until al last the death Angel came and escorted her through the "dark valley" unto the marvelous light where her husband and other loved ones met her with outstretched arms, ready to welcome her in.

She leaves behind several children, a host of grandchildren and a number of friends to mourn her death.

She was buried by the side of her husband in the family burying ground at M. L. Parsley's, March 16, where a host of relatives and friends gathered to cast the last look at the one whom they held very dear.

We've no grandma now, we're weeping,
She has left us here alone,
And beneath the sod she's sleeping
In her long and silent home.
Tears of sorrow now have started
Her bright smiles no more we'll see,
But we trust when life is o'er
We will meet in Heaven with thee.

Among the blest in pastures above
Where sorrows are not known,
Oh, may we meet our Grandma dear,
No more to weep alone.
Her dying words of love and faith
We'll cherish ever more,
Within the hearts that hold so dear
The one that's gone before.
