Joseph Edward Wade, 73, of Forest passed away Sunday November 17, 2013.

Joe was born October 9, 1940 in Washington D.C. a son of the late Herbert E. Wade, Jr. and Bessie Wade of Forest. He became a lifelong electrician, joining IBEW Local 26, and obtained a Master Electrician status. He was of the Catholic faith and served as an altar boy at St. Dominic's in Washington D.C. His primary focus was the support of his family. He enjoyed bowling, card games, golf, reading, and was an avid football fan. He also performed helpful services for those close to him and others, and was overall a generous, giving man who was a devoted and loving son, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his mother those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Julia J. Leatherland, son-in-law Robert L. Leatherland, his four grandsons: Robert Wade, Joseph Lendon, Daniel Tyler and Brandon Christopher Leatherland; his former spouse Gloria and sister-in-law Portia Buchanan. He was fourth in a line of ten siblings, Cosa Hicks (Jimmy), Dorothy Wade, Gloria Wade, Patricia Plott, (Paul), Rose Benson (Paul), Thomas Wade (Gail), Deborah Wade, and Michael Wade. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Joe was predeceased by his siblings Betty Neuben and Herbert Elmo Wade III (Patrick).

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday November 21, 2013 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg with Msgr. J. Kenneth Rush officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
