James Babcook, who in the late 70's of the last century settled on the present site of Stronghurst and lived here for a number of years, died at his home in Durham Township, Hancock county last Sunday night Jan. 18th at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 16 days. Mr. Babcook was prominent in farming and business circles in his locality and was one of the organizers and the first vice president of the Farmers State Exchange Bank of Dallas City.
