Mrs. Emmons C. Abernathy (Emma) Abernathy of 955-5th SW died at 9:15 a.m. Monday in Bogata.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Curtis Hoover of Pattonville. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.

Mrs. Abernathy was born May 8, 1888, in Morris Chapel, daughter of Sam Brown and the former Isabel Begs. She attended Morris Chapel schools. She first married Charlie Johnson in 1904. He died in 1921. She later married E. C. Abernathy on Aug. 6, 1934. She was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church and of the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class there, where she taught for several years.

She was a Gold Star Mother, due to the death of her son, Martin L. Johnson, during World War II.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Stogner of Greenville; four sons, Ben Johnson of Lubbock, Arthur Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., Charlie Johnson of Trinity and Henry Johnson of Paris; one sister, Mrs. Bess France of Anson; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
