Gary L. Meyer, age 62, of Versailles, passed away at 9:28 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Gary was born Aug. 1, 1951, in Piqua, to the late Lowell and Margaret (Black) Meyer.
Gary is survived by his wife, Kathy (McEldowney) Meyer whom he married Aug. 12, 1972; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Jo and William Cohoon, of Michigan; son, Ty Batty, of Versailles; brother and sister-in-law, David and Julie Meyer, of Sidney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Roger Stump, of Tipp City, and Linda Batty, of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Meyer.
Gary served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gary retired from Terra in Versailles where he was a custom applicator. Gary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell. Gary was an avid fisherman and hunter.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Willowdell with Military Honor's conducted by the Versailles Veteran's Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
