William James Whitaker, 61, of Navarre, Fla., passed away July 21, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident.

He was the son of the late James and Thelma Whitaker of Tuskegee, Ala. He was a graduate of Hampton University and Ball State University. William taught Science in the Gary, Indiana School System. After 31 years with DoD Schools of Germany he retired to Navarre, Fla. He was married to Beverly Logan Whitaker for 37 years.

William is survived by two sons, Cory (Rhonica) of Bowie, Md., Kyle (Angel) and grandson, Warren, of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Thelma Whitaker of Queens, N.Y.; a brother, George (Irene) of Columbia, Md.; two nephews and other relatives and host of friends.

He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and past president of Theta Theta Lambda Chapter. A scholarship fund will be established in his memory.
