A native of Mecklenburg Co., he was a son of the late Carey Douglas and Ethel Kiser Wilson.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Wilson, in 1977.
Mr. Wilson was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea. He worked as the manager of the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of Groce United Methodist Church in Asheville.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nell Deaton Wilson; a daughter, Phyllis Wilson of Asheville; a son, Carey D. Wilson, III and wife Karen of Macon, GA; grandchildren Carey D. Wilson, IV and wife Bobbie-sue of Bellview, FL, and Joseph Willard of Asheville; and great-grandchildren Clara-lynn Wilson and Carey D. Wilson, V, both of Florida.
Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Carey D. Wilson, III, will officiate.
