ROD J. SILVA

"A funeral for Rod J. Silva, 66, a Dayton resident for the past 27 years, will be on Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Mr. Silva died January 4, 2004, in Carson City. He was born January 4, 1938, in San Rafael, California, to John M. and Rose Antonio Silva.

Before moving to Dayton, Rod lived in Petaluma, California. He was a truck driver for Cinderlite and the former owner/operator of the Dayton Shell gas station. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a Seaman (SN) in the United States Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Jan, and his father, John, in 2000. Among his survivors are his mother, of Petaluma; wife, Vera, and stepson, Justin Scott Molnar, both of Dayton; daughters Bridgett Lori Silva and Nicole May Silva, both of Reno; godchildren Bridget Fricke and Lon Antonio, both of Petaluma and Wendy Giovannoni of Grand Junction, Colorado; brothers Bob of Sonoma, California, and Walter of Windsor, California; sisters Dorothy Vollmer of Shingle Springs, California, Nancy Scheiner of Arizona City, Arizona, and Carole Dickens, of Sonoma, California; and one grandson.

Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements."
