Clarence W. Alden, 64, of Newport passed away at 7:00pm Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the home of his daughter following an extended illness. He was born on February 11, 1948, in Marietta to Clarence V. and Beatrice C. Farley Alden.
He was an operator at Bosley Block, Inc., a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church, The Eagles #458, Newport Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT, enjoyed hunting, fishing, country cruzing, camping, snake hunting, started Pee Wee football in Newport, coached several sports, was a volunteer Santa, diehard Cleveland Browns fan, loved to watch wrestling, Nascar and Days of our Lives and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was married to Ruth Rea who survives with one son, William "Willie" Alden of Barlow; 2 daughters: Jamie (Allen) Malone of Waverly, WV, and Danielle (Stephen) Boyer of Belpre; 3 grandchildren, Realeigh Malone, Aiden and Ryace Boyer, sister Garnet (Beeman) Thomas, 3 brothers: Harold (Pattie), Charles (Kandi) and Bruce (Charmin) Alden and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Alden and best friend Bill Greathouse.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (Dec. 10) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery.
