BELTON--Marvin Kay, Jr., 81, widower of Mary Guthrie Kay, died Saturday, January 18, 2014. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Marvin and Sarah Darby Kay, Sr. An army veteran, he retired from Chiquola Mill. He was a member of the Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, Hoyt Masonic Lodge, Belton, and was a Hejaz Shriner. He enjoyed fishing trips with friends and was a member of Donalds Hunting Club. Marvin was a long-time volunteer for Belton Rescue Squad and an avid gardener. He is survived by daughters, Dale Gregory Gentile (Michael) of Greenville and Mimmie Coker (Stanley) of Pelzer; son, Marvin Wallace Kay of Laurens; sister, Lois Chapman (Kenneth); brother, Dan Kay (Diane); grandchildren, Stacey Bagwell (Bryan), Tyler Moore, Caroline Moore and Michelle Gregory; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Steve and Marsha Dubois. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as "Papa Kay." He was predeceased by son-in-law, Mack Gregory; sisters, Mary Epps and Clara Bell Kay; brothers, Charles and Grady Kay. The family wishes to thank Twin Oaks Dialysis and the Williamston Rescue Squad for their services and care. Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
