Anna was the eldest of four children born to Jacob Van Dyke, Jr. and Patje Kelderman, both Dutch immigrants. Her siblings: Elizabeth Johanna, William and Minnie. Her father died when she was 11 and her mother remarried, giving her half siblings Alice, Gertrude and John.

On 26 Feb 1919, Anna married Dutch immigrant Herman Sneller, son of Johannes and Grietje (Heibrinh) Sneller. He had emigrated to America alone in 1912 when he was 21. Anna and Herman had five children: Peternella, Joseph, Jacob William, Margaret Elizabeth and Martin.

Anna Van Dyke Sneller, 87 or 3808 Sixth Ave., formerly of Pella, died off a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Open Bible Church in Pella. Burial will be in Pella's Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Sneller was born near Pella and lived in Knoxville from 1936 to 1965 and in Pella before moving to Des Moines four years ago. She retired in 1961 from the Rollscreen Co. in Pella. She was a member of Open Bible Church in Pella.

Survivors include a daughter, Peternella "Pat" Nyswonger of Des Moines; three sons, Joe of Bakersfield, Calif., Jacob of Des Moines and Martin of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three sisters, Minnie Hol and Gertrude Rietveld, both of Pella, and Alice Schultz of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call anytime Tuesday at Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.
