MURRAY--George A. Barnett, age 96, died June 27, 1992 of causes incident to age.

He was born August 12, 1895 in Payson, Utah to John Henry and Speedy Esther Elsworth Barnett. He married Frances Clare Harper on August 22, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; she died in 1980. He attended school in Payson. He was veteran of World War I, and was on active duty in France. He was a general contractor and builder, and supervised the construction of several public schools and LDS chapels in Utah, as well as, two rural power lines and numerous homes.

He was a faithful member, and high priest in the LDS Church.

He is survived by three sons and their wives, Don and Andree; Max and Elise, all Salt Lake City; Dean and Joan of Provo; 13 grandchildren, Paul, Peggy, Gary, Brian, Teresa, Brent, Alan, and Russell Barnett; Van Hall, Wendy Usher, Brenda Kirby, Kathleen Stanford, and Cheryl Davis; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Afton, three brothers, Evan, Owen, and LRoy, and three sisters, Delpha Taylor, Pearl Barnett, and Nyda Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12:00 noon, at the Murray 3rd Ward Chapel, 160 East 4600 South. Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy.
