She was born February 9, 1944 in Rossville, GA to the late George David and Beatrice (Gray) Hayes. Devonnia was raised in Rossville, GA and had lived in Hixson, TN for the last 30 years. She was a 1962 graduate of Rossville High School and a graduate of the Saint Louis College of Cosmetology. Devonnia was foremost a pastor's wife and was employed by Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga for the past 17 years. She had many hobbies such as needlepoint, ceramics, and reading. Devonnia was a member of Dayton Family Worship Center where she loved to sing and teach the Bible. She also worked in youth camps for many years.
