He was born on September 26, 1955, in Independence, the son of William Henry and Dorothy Lucille (Floyd) McCoy. He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1974. He taught school for a time and then served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. McCoy is survived by his sister, Wanda (Robert) Shepherd of Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his paretns. No services are planned at this time. His cremated remains will be placed in Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
