COLUMBIA:Funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Coutsos Gann, 91, of Columbia, will be held 11 o'clock Friday morning, April 18, 2003, in Woodfield Park Baptist Church, conducted by The Reverend Bill Oswald and The Reverend Horace Youngblood. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gann will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to Woodfield Park Baptist Church or to the charity of ones choice.
Pallbearers are Gary Coutsos, Gus Coutsos, Johnny Coutsos, Mike Coutsos, James and William Williams, grandchildren of her two deceased sons. Honorary Pallbearers will be the church Deacons. Shives Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Gann, widow of John C. Gann, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003. She was born February 1, 1912, in Sumter County.
Mrs. Gann was the oldest charter member of Woodfield Park Baptist Church and a life member of the Elizabeth McDaniel Chapter 115, Order of The Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron. She was also a volunteer with the American Red Cross and a member of the Fairlawn Family Community Leaders. Additionally, Mrs. Gann served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Aging of the Midlands at which time she was recognized for the conception and implementation of the Meals on Wheels Program.
Survivors are: son, James G. Coutsos of Irmo, daughter, Helen Wilson of Blythewood; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; brother, George Coutsos, sisters, Olga Grimsley and Anita Kirby all of Columbia.
