Marilyn June Stolpe, 76, of Loveland passed away on June 12, 2011.
Marilyn June Stolpe was born June 27, 1934 to George and Edna Lau in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the younger of two sisters, who was known as "Babe" to her family in her early years and "Mimi" to her grandchildren and family in later years. Marilyn attended school in Hinton, Iowa. She met Ray Stolpe after he served in WWII as a Marine. They were married on June 26, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa, and first moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Michael and Cindy were born. They later moved to Miles City, Montana where their youngest son, Neal, was born. Marilyn stayed home while the children were young, and taught accordion lessons. Eventually they moved to Northglenn, Colorado where they started a family lumber business and Marilyn was the bookkeeper. After the children graduated from high school, Marilyn and Ray moved to Loveland where Marilyn worked at Home State Bank. She was a beloved worker at the bank and many people would request to work with her. Marilyn loved to cook for a house full of family. She also loved to go to movies, shopping, and out to eat with her grandkids. She was a great gift-giver with a generous, loving heart. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Ray, and sister, Phyllis Peterson of Cherokee, Iowa; and her children: Mike (wife Nancy and granddaughters Kristin, Hannah, and Madeline) of Gillette, Wyoming; Cindy Hansen (husband Dan and grandsons Steve, Tom, and Matt) of Longmont, Colorado; Neal (wife Maritza) of Chillan, Chile.
Contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice in care of McKee Hospital in Loveland. (They were angels and took loving, kind care of Mimi.) A memorial service will be held Friday, June 24, 1:30 p.m. at Faith Community Lutheran Church, 9775 Ute Hwy. Longmont, Colorado.
