Lorry Gene Gerbitz, age 51, passed away on Tuesday, Jan 31, 2006, after his struggle with a liver disease at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Fla. Born Feb 2, 1954, at divine Savior Hospital in Portage, the sixth child of 11 children born to Howard M. and Darlene L. Gerbitz. He graduated from Pardeeville High school in 1972 and attended Madison Area Technical College and earned a degree in auto body mechanics. He grew up and lived most of his youth in Wisconsin where he enjoyed baseball, hunting and working on his cars. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from April 1975 to April 1979, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After returning home, he worked for WISC-TV and also established his own auto body business. He later moved to California to work with his brother at "Castle Homes Inc." In March 2000, he moved to Florida and resumed refurbishing cars. A devoted Christian, he served the Lord with a passion as strong as his love for his family. He loved biking, walking, and sharing his life with Christ, great old Seinfeld episodes, and picking strawberries. He has embarked on his final journey and sends his final valediction to his mother, Darlene Gerbitz-Davison of Waunakee; four sisters, Patti (Real") Pinard of Madison, Linda (Steve) Jones, Sheila (Frank) Pavelec of Middleton and Sheri (Russ) Manthey of Pardeeville; brothers Randy (Sandy) Gerbitz of Vicksburg, Miss, Jeffery (Sue) Gerbitz of Elk Grove, Calif., and Howard Lee (Doris) Gerbitz of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Gerbitz of Sheboygan; and many nieces and nephews. At the end of his glorious journey, he will joyfully meet and be embraced by grandparents; his father, Howard m. Gerbitz; and his brothers Rev Larry W. Gerbitz and Steven D. Gerbitz. Services with military honors will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 601 E Broadway, Monona, on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. E. Dale Gunter Funeral Home & Cremation Services, St Petersburg, Fla., is in charge of arrangements. Online memorial and guest book at www.gunterfuneralhome.com . Little we knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In the life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. You left us peaceful memories, with Christ as your guide. As the Lord calls us one by one, we again will be at your side.
