Anita was born May 5, 1930, to Hank and Lettie Smith of McGregor. Anita was one of 10 children and she was the youngest girl. After moving to Waco, she met her first husband, Robert S. Montgomery. As an Air Force couple, they lived in many states, including South Carolina, where Marty was born, and Germany, where Bob was born. They finally settled back in Texas in Fort Worth and Euless.
After the passing of her first husband, Anita attended Tarrant County Junior College, volunteered at the Euless Library and attended Martin United Methodist Church. Col. Robert Head and Anita worked at the Army office at Bell Helicopter, where they met. They later married in 1976 at Fort Hood. They had been married 35 years when Anita passed away.

Anita was very involved and devoted to her grandchildren, playing an active role in their lives. She was their "granny" and their champion in all that they did! She was fun and creative, making dolls, furniture and always singing with them. Most importantly, she was their prayer warrior!

Anita was preceded in death by her first husband, Col. Robert S. Montgomery, and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors: Loving husband of 35 years, Robert L. Head; daughter, Marty Reiswig and husband, Michael J. Reiswig; son, Robert S. Montgomery and wife, Caron Montgomery; granddaughters, Leigh Montgomery, Katy Reiswig and Caroline Montgomery; sister, Polly Young; brother, Danny Smith; Karen Head Aldridge; and numerous other loving family members.
