Sadie DeLong Presque Isle 84. Died 1-30-2003 attended by her nephew, Stephen and his wife Pauline and the warm and caring staff of the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. She was born 2-17-1918 in Washburn, the daughter of Charles and Edna (Rediker) DeLong. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1935. She was employed in the family automobile business, CC DeLong & Son in Presque Isle for several years and then in the US Government Civil Service at Presque Isle Air Force Base and Loring Air Force Base in Limestone until her retirement in 1972. Sadies most enjoyable years were spent living in the family home independently for 18 years, although confined to a wheelchair and with slowly detoriating health she received family, friends and neighbors with a wonderful sense of humor and wit. She will be remembered for her great appreciation of family, especially " Mom and Dad " a fondness for friends, refinishing old furniture, gardening and knitting afghans. She is survived by a niece, Lisbeth Culver of McLean, VA., nephews, Ralph Sweetser Jr. of Monmouth, Stephen Sweetser of Presque Isle, Ben Preston of Sacramento, CA., Charles DeLong of Fort Lauderdale, FLA. and Daniel DeLong of Ellsworth and all their mates. She is also survived by 22 great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews, who hold her in their hearts. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by 2 sisters, Dorothy and Charlene, a brother Charles and a nephew, Peter. Burial at Fairmount cemetery.
