M. W. Andrews, 74, 820 Bemidji Avenue, retired real estate and insurance man, died at the Bemidji Hospital Convalescent Unit Sunday following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church Tuesday. The Rev. Clarence Richardson and the Rev. Clement Nagel will officiate with burial in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of the McKee Funeral Home. The family prefers memorials directed to the First Methodist church or Bemidji Hospital Convalescent Unit.

Born at Amherst, Wis., May 15, 1894, Marvel W. Andrews grew up there and moved with his parents to Shafer, MN, at the age of 18. He served in the Army during World War I returning to Shafer. His marriage to Bertha E. Hesse took place at St. Paul Dec. 18, 1920 and they lived in St. Paul until 1925 when they moved to Bemidji and have lived here since.

Andrews was associated with the Bemidji Wood Products Co., as bookkeeper and in 1941 was appointed clerk of the Selective Service Board of Beltrami County, serving in that capacity until 1949. He operated the M.W. Andrews Realty and Insurance Co. from 1944 to 1951 at which time he entered into partnership with George Guyan and was co-owner of the Andrews-Guyan Real Estate and Insurance until his retirement in 1961. He had also served as deputy motor vehicle registrar for several years.

Mr. Andrews was an active member of the First Methodist church and served on the Board of Trustees and the Official Board; he was past American Legion Post Commander; past president of the Bemidji Rotary Club; past president of the Bemidji School board; served on the Bemidji Hospital Board. Mr. Andrews was past Worshipful Master of Bemidji Masonic Lodge No. 233 A. F. & A. M.; past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star; member of the Royal Arch Masons, Bemidji Chapter No. 70; member of the Elkanah Commandery No. 30, Knights Templar.

Survivors include his widow; a son, Jack R. Andrews, Fergus Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Neal S. Bradburn (Betty) of Fargo; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Guilder Gunderson (Hilma) of Amery, WIs., Mrs. Eric Alen (Miranda) and Mrs. Clarence Albertson (Alvina), Balsam Lake, Wis.
