It was suggested that Fred's first name was "Frederick". No source provided; no original documentation found to confirm. It does not appear that he was commonly known by that name.

Birth date (September 17, 1839) from a suggestion. No original document found to confirm.
Fred served as a Private in Company A of the 6th Regiment, Vermont infantry during the Civil War. He mustered in on July 15, 1863. On May 12, 1864, he was reported missing in action at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House. Fred died from the wounds he received that day.

Some *TRANSCRIPTS* of Weathersfield *BURIAL* records available online have been incorrectly indexed to suggest that Fred died in Weathersfield Vermont. That is incorrect.
