Dale graduated from Porter Military Academy in Charleston, South Carolina in 1942. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the DE 575 "Ahrens" from January 1944 until February 1946.
Dale earned a BS in Geology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and then earned an MS in Geology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He worked in the oil fields of west Texas and New Mexico for two years and then moved to Venezuela to work with the Mene Grande Oil Company (Gulf Oil). While in Venezuela he met and married Lenora Ellen Williams. Dale retired from Gulf Oil in 1982.
Dale is survived by his two sons, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter, Cecilia.
