Son of Henrietta Jervis Cecil, of Manor House, Dronfield, Derbyshire, and the late Rotheram Cecil.

Killed while involved in the attack on the Gommecourt Salient, France as part of the battle of The Somme. His brother Frederick Rotheram Cecil later the same year committed suicide prior to being posted to France.
