Mr. John Grover Fairchild, 98, passed away on January 5, 2014, at North MS Medical Center in West Point. He was born May 31, 1915, in Leake County the son of the late Louella Martin and Lofton Marion Fairchild. He was a Self Employed Farmer and was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he was Song Director. He married Doretha Keller Fairchild in the Spring of 1990 in Marshall, TX.

Funeral services will be January 8, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Alan Garbutt officiating and assisted by Brother Paul Barham. Burial will follow in Center Hill Cemetery near Hamilton. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include His Wife: Doretha K. Fairchild of West Point; One Son, Marion Fairchild (Joyce Ann) of Hamilton; A number of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren; One Sister, Georgia Fusco of Memphis, TN. Preceding him in death were his First Wife: Anna Ward Fairchild; One Daughter: Jane Lancaster; One Grandson: John Stanley Fairchild; Two Sisters: Candis Wilson and Bessie Cockerham; and Two Brothers: Roy and Earl Fairchild.

Pallbearers will be Phil Lancaster, Larry Wilson, Martin Wilson, Sammy Pearson, Cliff Hammond, and Frank Howell Cockerham.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Claude Keller, Harold Keller, James Keller, Harvel Lancaster, Jaimy Towery, Jerry Sanders, Staff of Dugan Memorial Home, and the Friends at Bible Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to West Point/Clay County Animal Shelter, 1212 Old Tibbee Road, West Point, MS 39773.

Visitation will be Wednesday 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
