Graveside Services for Ruth Stockstill Walker, age 87, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, will be held Sunday, December 29, 2013, at 1:00 pm at New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Ruth, beloved mother of Carol Ruth and Carmen Deane Walker, lived in Picayune for her entire life. She was an avid genealogist and researcher and a supporter of Friends of the Picayune Library. At age 16, she started working for Thigpen Hardware Store and continued working with the Thigpen family for over 70 years. Ruth assisted her husband in the operation of Walker Pharmacy for over 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, Charles Emmitt Walker, Jr.; her parents, Geneva Ladner and James Daniel Stockstill, Sr.; and her sister, Hettie Lou Stockstill.
Survivors include her two daughters, Carmen Deane Walker and Carol Ruth Walker; her two sisters, Rosalie Knecht and Doris Walters; her brother, James Daniel Stockstill, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
