Augustine Saulsberry Smith was born to parentage of the late Augusta & Eleanor Saulsberry on February 1, 1926. She was affectionately known as "Momma Pete." Augustine was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama (down the bay).

She was an charter member of the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and later joined Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She possessed a beautiful personality and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Christian friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter T. Smith, son Donald T.Herbert (Naomi) Saulsberry Smith, daughter Delphine R. Smith, 2 brothers Emmitt Saulsberry and Herbert Saulsberry.

Her memories will be cherished by her daughter-in-law Ruth Smith, granddaughters Vanessa & Valarie Smith, great granddaughter Reanna Keys,2 great grandsons Hunter Keys & Ryan Keys; nieces, Brenda (Robert) Kidd, Caroline Saulsberry, Mary Hambrick, Gwen Nettles, Ann Thompkins and Ardis Nettles and nephews, Herbert (Naomi) Saulsberry, Chris Thompkins and Wellington Nettles; cousins, other relatives and friends.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 1 pm until 8 pm at Small?s Mortuary, Mobile.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 9:30 am until the 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 454 Charleston St., Mobile, AL. Burial will be recited by Basiimwa R. John F.M.H., Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
