Mr. William Kenneth Hawkins, of 5121 Old National Pike, Frederick, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Janice Wiles Hawkins.

Born July 29, 1923, in Frederick County, he was a son of the late Gilmer R. and L. Viola Woodfield Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins was employed as a truck driver with Matlack and also Amerada-Hess Co. until his retirement. He was most recently employed part-time at Central Tractor, Frederick. He was a member of Parkway Community Church, Frederick, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, William K. Hawkins Jr. and his wife Nancy, and Susan Hawkins Melvin and her husband Richard, all of Frederick; four grandchildren, Chad William Hawkins, Bradley Michael Hawkins, Justin Richard Melvin and Michael William Melvin; three sisters, Katherine Crittenden of Belleview, Fla., Ellen Hildebrand of Woodsboro and Jean Wood of Urbana; one brother, Earl Hawkins of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by three brothers, David Hubert, Edwin G. and Windsor T. Hawkins, and by one sister, Lucy Mayetta Boyer.

Friends may call anytime Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hawkins will be removed to Parkway Community Church, 5605 New Design Road, Frederick, at noon Thursday, Nov. 8, where friends may call until time of services at 1 p.m. The Rev. David Meador, Mr. Hawkin's pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the building fund of Parkway Community Church, 5605 New Design Road, Frederick, Md. 21701.
