MILLEDGEVILLE — Mr. Lawrence Sidney "Larry" Lane, fondly known as "PAL" passed away on Jan. 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Milledgeville; burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends and guests at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 2 p.m.

PAL was born in Savannah and grew up in Reidsville. He was the son of the late H.S. "Sid" and Grace Kennedy Lane. He was a graduate of Reidsville High School, and a member of Reidsville Baptist Church. Mr. Lane, an accomplished pianist and organist, began playing in the church services at the age of 12. He attended both Augusta State and Middle Georgia College. In 1963, he became the youngest radio station manager in the state when he and a partner started WXPQ in Eatonton.

He spent 27 years in Macon before moving to Lake Sinclair in 1997. He was owner and founder of Brent Lane & Associates. He most recently worked closely with John Dixon & Associates in Atlanta, but was previously associated with Hudson & Marshall in Macon. Mr. Lane was a licensed pilot with a love for flying and a member of the National Auctioneers Association. He was member of First United Methodist Church in Eatonton where he was the choir director and established the youth choir. Upon moving to Macon, in 1970, he attended Woodland Christian Church where he was the church organist and choir director.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue Ellen Ervin Lane of Milledgeville; daughter, Lauren Lane Hailey of Atlanta; and son, Lawrence "Kerry" (Stacie) Lane of Madison. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chenault William Hailey, Holland Lane Hailey, Hunter Jakob Lane and Karlie Grace Lane.
