Farlan Glover enlisted in the US Army on May 16, 1941. He was assigned to the 44th Airborne Division 93rd Bomb Group. He obtained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was tail gunner aboard a B-24D on a flight from RAF Hardwick England to North Africa via RAF Porteath, Cornwall when the aircraft suffered a double engine failure. Pilot, 1st Lt. John Watts Pryor, attempted a force-landing, crashed one mile east of Little Compton, 9 crew men died in the crash, Farlan died the next day, four were injured.
