U.S. Veteran Joseph L. Wade, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 82 years. Son of the late Lawrence and Lula (DeRosia) Wade, Joseph was born March 17, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joseph married Carol M. Genske on February 2, 1957. She survives him. Joseph was a foundry superintendent for American Hoist and Derrick for 30 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4232. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and especially helping people and his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Carol are two daughters, Judy Napierala, Saginaw; Jane and Bill Anderson, Saginaw; five grandchildren Jeremy, Ashley and Brennan Wade, Jessica and Justin Anderson; two sisters, Ann Soltysiak, Saginaw; Shirley and Walt Feringa, Kalamazoo; three sisters-in-law, Mary Wade, Jean Wade and Shirley Wade; a brother-in-law, Carl and Arlene Genske and sister-in-law, Barbara and Norward Rivette; many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey J. Wade; two sisters, Mary Galonska and Jean Lombardi; five brothers, Don, Robert, Jack, Duane and Gerald Wade; brothers-in-law, Richard Soltysiak, Dan Galonska and a sister-in-law Evelyn Wade.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 545 Mapleridge, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. A private burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 12:00 noon until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Friday and a Vigil Service will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
