Mass of Christian Burial for Veronica "Ronnie" Simon, 75, of Minnewaukan was Saturday, July 6, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Minnewaukan, with Rev. Fr. Matt Lanz & Rev. Mr. Ronald Horner officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Carol Lysne & Rita Staloch were eucharistic ministers, Jackie Feller & Kathy Younkers were gift bearers, and Alyssa Erickson & Andrew Tofsrud were altar servers. Deanna Hanson was organist, with Sheila Youngs, Gene Meyer & Tina Young, vocalists. Casket bearers were Dennis Job, Isidore Job, Pius Keller, Bill Meyer, Gene Meyer & Dave Wurgler. Nelson Funeral Home of Minnewaukan was in charge of arrangements.
Veronica "Ronnie" Simon was born February 16, 1927 o the family farm in McHenry County, near Karlsruhe, ND, the daughter of Philip and Margareta (Gefroh) Kupser. She attended school in Karlsruhe and graduated from Minot State College with a degree in elementary education. Ronnie married Kenneth E. Simon on July 12, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Knox, ND. The couple lived in Aurora Township, rural Minnewaukan, until moving into Minnewaukan in 1980. Over a period of 25 years, Ronnie taught school in Minnewaukan, Esmond, Karlsruhe, Knox and Oberon. She then wrote programs for the Lake Region Corporation in Devils Lake until retiring in 1999.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Altar Society in Minnewaukan. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering and visiting with relatives.
Ronnie died Monday July 1, 2002, at her home in Minnewaukan. Surviving are her husband; 3 daughters: Connie Michels of Edmore, Maggie (Mrs. John) Swenson of Fargo & Karen (Mrs. Frank) Le Bron of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 sons, Duane Simon of West Fargo and Kenneth (Cindy) Simon of Fargo; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Michels, Kristi Michels, Kimberly Le Bron, Kyle Le Bron, Josh Simon, Jesse Simon & Jordon Simon; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Job & Cel Meyer both of Rugby, Rose Steagall from the state of Michigan & Eva (Mrs. Joe) Feller of Karlsruhe and a brother, Philip (Sharon) Kupser of Minot. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Simon; a son-in-law, Steven Michels; 5 sisters, Katherine Kupser, Adeline Kupser, Teresa Keller, Magdalena Schaan & Regina Abel and two brothers, Ludwig Kupser and Edward Kupser.
